Do it in the summer when you have half a chance of some decent ride out…
As for trekking around, avoid London and Paris as the prices are outrageous.
For the UK, try Bath, Newcastle, Cornwall, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, Stirling, Glasgow, Norwich, Lake District, Peake District, Northumberland (home of Aggravate Potters castle), Yorkshire countryside.
In France, where on earth you go, you must get fantastic food. Personally, I like the champagne region.
For accommodation here (UK), do a search for youth hostels as they tend to be the cheapest.

Excellent video, fantastic thought with your whistle and compass connected to your rucksack zips with string.
The wind up torch that charges your phone is fantastic. Do you know where they can be bought?

People reflect that you can just make tent stakes. And you can but the aluminum stakes do not weigh much and they are a pleasure compared wit hwood stakes!

aluminum stakes weight really few grams, and have the perfect conformation for the use. I prefer 20 grams more but to have the certainty of the operation

I have tried the plastic also but I have found the aluminum nails used to hold gutters in place are the lightest and the simplest to carry.

Anyway take the stakes by all means!!!
